Choose the right calculator

Use a borrowing calculator to compare payment size with total cost, a growth calculator to project deposits and interest, or a return calculator to measure a past change in value. Each model answers a different question.

  • Loan Calculator — Estimate monthly principal-and-interest payments, total repayment and total interest for a fixed-rate loan.

  • Loan Payment Calculator — Focus on monthly affordability and the annual payment budget using the same fixed-rate loan model.

  • Savings Calculator — Project a starting balance with monthly deposits and monthly compounding.

  • Compound Interest Calculator — Compare compounding frequencies and add a contribution at the end of each selected period.

  • Investment Return Calculator — Compare total return with annualized return (CAGR) when there are no intermediate deposits or withdrawals.

Before you calculate

These are constant-rate mathematical estimates. Loan fees, insurance, taxes, inflation and changing rates are not included. Savings and compound-interest inputs use a nominal annual rate; an APY is a different measure. Investment return cannot separate gains from extra deposits.

A practical example

A $10,000 fixed-rate loan at 6% for three years has an estimated monthly payment of $304.22 and about $951.90 in total interest. The Loan tool shows both costs; Loan Payment shows the monthly amount and annual budget. Neither includes lender fees.
